week 29 - rem-o-rem

my first real rem encounter. this crowned the perfect excursion day that had started with a visit to SOM's office, glorius sunny lunch break beside marina towers and continued with mies's crown hall. somedays are just worth living for. (just realized that if this is what i consider a winning day that i might be considered a bit sad as a person... too bad too sad).

week 29 - millenium park

oh park life. city life has it's perks and maybe the best of them are the parks (don't you just have ants in your pants to get out and spend some quality parklife time. sooon the season will be opened...). chicago had some top notch parks - like lincoln park, grant park and millenium park. to come to think of it the whole eastern lake front was a huge green belt park and made me long for my running shoes and ipod. the landscaping was great and full of suprises, great architecture and some peace from the constant buzzing of a big city. so lovely. (the pro-life demonstration wasn't one of the happy surprises but more like a testament of the american way of life...)

week 28 - John Hancock Center

i still stand by my comment that john hancock sounds like someones porn-alias. just fyi.

week 28 - marina city

my new favorite fab-retro architecture piece! as most of the skyscrapers were either cold, cool or collected, marina towers always brought a smile to my face. such jolly good fellows. and what a weird-unfriendly-truly american- insiderbar it hosted. super! who wouldn't want to be yelled at when served a drink. :)
